Billerud restarts machine in Sweden

BRUSSELS, May 16, 2008 (RISI) - Billerud has restarted the overhauled PM 7 at its Skärblacka mill in Sweden.

Voith widened the machine-glazed kraft paper machine from 4.7 m to 5.4 m, and replaced the unit's headbox, fourdrinier, and breast roll. The quality-driven project also saw the upgrade of the forming section, MG cylinder and calendar section.

A spokesman for the mill said that PM 7, which could previously produce some 42,500 tonnes/yr, would begin to run at its new capacity of 55,000 tonnes/yr within about six months.
