SINGAPORE, March 13, 2008 (RISI) - China’s Fujian Nanping Paper has ordered equipment from three suppliers for a greenfield mill in Nanping city, Fujian province. Startup is scheduled for late 2009.

Metso Paper will supply a 200,000 tonne/yr newsprint machine, and Andritz will provide the stock preparation and approach flow system for the unit. Quattroll will deliver a rewinder.

Fujian Nanping also plans to install an 800 tonne/day deinked pulp line to feed the PM. Negotiations with suppliers for this equipment are under way.

The cost of the greenfield project is expected to total RMB 1 billion ($141 million). Fujian Nanping has also set aside another RMB 400 million for developing up to 50,000 ha of eucalyptus and masson pine plantations near the site in the next few years.

The company already operates a newsprint mill in Nanping city housing three machines with a total capacity of 300,000 tonnes/yr.
