Kamenskaya starts up corrugator at Russian plant

BRUSSELS, June 20, 2008 (RISI) - Kamenskaya Paper and Board Mill has begun commercial production on a new corrugator at its facility in Kuvshinovo, the Tver region, Russia.

The 2.50 m wide BHS unit has replaced an old corrugator at the site. It will increase the mill's capacity from 40 million m2/yr to 120 million m2/yr. The unit will partially handle the mill's board output, while the rest of the possible converting tonnage will be purchased from the market. The firm is currently mulling over installing a new BM, which would produce containerboard for the corrugator. The project is scheduled for 2009. More details on the scheme will be revealed shortly.

Kamenskaya is also planning to upgrade its box-making and printing equipment. The scheme has already started and will be completed in three stages by 2010.

Kamenskaya Paper and Board Mill is part of the SFT Group. The plant houses two board machines which can produce 15,000 tonnes/yr of binding board and three paper machines which churn out 33,000 tonnes/yr of fluting and testliner.
