JYVASKYLA, Finland, June 18, 2008 (Press Release) - Metso Paper will supply a new fiber line to Century Pulp & Paper's integrated pulp and paper mill in Uttaranchal state in Northern India, near the border to Nepal. The line is scheduled to start up at the end of 2009. The value of the order is close to Euro 23 million.

The scope of Metso Paper's delivery comprises SuperBatch cooking, screening, washing and oxygen stage as well as ECF (elemental chlorine-free) bleaching plant. TwinRoll presses will be installed at each stage of washing of both brown stock and bleached pulps. The order also includes basic engineering, valves, special instruments, instrumentation, project execution as well as erection and start-up supervision services.

Metso Automation will supply metsoDNA DCS distributed control system for the cooking plant and the fiber line. It will be the first DNA DCS system delivery to India.

The new fiber line is designed for a daily capacity of 450 odt (oven dry tonnes) of bleached pulp. The raw material is mixed Indian hardwood, among others eucalyptus. The line will replace two smaller fiber lines and increase the pulp production. It will supply pulp to the newly invested tissue line, also supplied by Metso Paper.

Century was the first Indian customer to which Metso Paper delivered equipment for pulp production in 1993. The delivery included equipment for a fiber line for bagasse.

Century Pulp and Paper, a division of Century Textile and Industries Ltd, is a manufacturer of rayon grade pulp and an exhaustive range of writing & printing paper of excellent quality. Century has an annual total capacity of approximately 360,000 tonnes of mixed hardwood pulp, 85,000 tonnes of bagasse pulp and 31,000 tonnes of nitrocellulose.
