St. Regis orders Kemsley mill PM rebuild from PMT Italia

PINEROLO, Italy, May 16, 2008 (Press Release) - St. Regis Paper Company, UK largest producer of recycled waste paper, part of DS Smith Plc. International Packaging Manufacturer, has selected PMT Italia as supplier of the PM6 main rebuild in its prime UK paper manufacturing facility at Kemsley mill, Sittingbourne, Kent.

The "New Thames" PM6 Mill is producing office paper, however after the acquisition of the mill by DS Smith it will continue to produce office paper until the end of 2008 but then will be rebuilt to produce high quality lightweight recycled corrugated board. The contract with PMT has been signed on February 7th 2008, immediately after the announcement of the agreement between DS Smith and M-Real. The start of the new production is forecasted for January 2009.

The PM6, with its wire width of 7,42m, will be specialized on lightweight Fluting and Test Liner 3. The major rebuild to be carried out by PMT will include a new Tri-Ex Press section with a PMT Shoe Press, a new single tier dryer section and a reel rebuild.

The preference of St-Regis Paper Company for PMT is based on the demonstrated capability of PMT to deliver state of the art and reliable technical solutions in the field of packaging grades production as well as the specific capability to work on rebuild projects.
