Voith provides remote diagnostics service for Condat
HEIDENHEIM, Germany, June 4, 2008 (Press Release) - After a new headbox including cross-profile control was successfully commissioned in the summer of 2007, Condat, S.A., France, has again decided for Voith. For all three production lines, the paper factory is placing its trust with the specialists of the German family-owned business for the servicing of automation components.
Since the beginning of this year, the papermakers have been benefiting from the "Remote Diagnostics" service module, which makes it possible to perform diagnoses via modem or Internet. This means that on customer request a Voith service employee logs into the automation system to check the current status. Malfunctions can therefore be quickly analyzed and repaired. In turn, downtimes can be shortened and a high level of system availability ensured. Condat utilizes this service for the Profilmatic control software on the headbox of the PM 4 and PM 6 as well as for the control of the Nipco roll on the supercalender of the PM 9.
In addition to fixing errors, the service module can also be used to regularly assess automation and processes for optimization potential. Measuring systems and controls can thus be adapted to changing conditions, which in turn contributes to a consistently high level of quality.
In addition to the remote diagnoses, the service includes a yearly on-site system inspection by a specialist. As part of the module, Condat has also decided for a 24h/7d telephone service. Customer personnel can therefore find hardware and software assistance from Voith by phone and order replacement parts 24 hours a day.
The paper factory Condat, S.A., is located in south-western France. With an annual production of approximately 550,000 metric tons, it is the largest factory in France that manufactures woodfree coated papers. Papers ranging from 90 to 380 g/m² are produced on the three production lines. Condat belongs to the LECTA Group. With factories in Spain, Italy and France, it is one of the leading European makers of woodfree coated papers.
