ABB Drive Solution enables fast startup of PM7 at Hamburger mill in Hungary

HELSINKI, Aug. 10, 2009 (Press Release) - ABB's top knowledge and quality within the Paper Machine Drive Solution enabled a fast and on-time startup of PM7 in Dunaújváros, Hungary. Both the progress of work and the quality of the installation were excellent. All the agreed deadlines related to the startup, test-runs and production were ahead of the agreed schedule.

"The cooperation between ABB, the end customer, consultants and paper machine manufactures has been extremely smooth and the project proceeded well without any major problems," says Sauli Skrökki, Project Manager from ABB. "All technical descriptions were clear and even though there came some changes during the project, those were clarified fast and efficiently."

ABB's PMC800 Paper Machine Drive delivery for Hamburger Hungaria kft. PM7 project at Dunaujvaros consisted of Paper Machine and Winder Sectional drives with 59 ACS800 Multidrive inverters and motors, and Process drives of 93 ACS800 Multidrive inverters and 204 motors. Altogether the mill has 184 inverter units for the process motors. The Paper Machine and Winder drive systems have also PMC800 Dataloggers, 800xA Process Portal Operator Stations, Process Panel 800 control panels, and remote connectivity to the drive systems. The turnkey delivery included drive cabinet installation, training and startup.

ABB's Paper Machine Drive solution enables improved productivity by means of enhanced datalogging, maintenance tools and expert services, either at site or remotely.

Hamburger Hungária Kft., member of the Prinzhorn Group, started its test production of containerboard papers on 1st July on its new PM7 in Dunaújváros, Hungary. The first paper has come down on 19th June and the first jumbo reel on 23rd June with 1225 m/minute in 90 g/ m2. The investment covers one of the Europe's most modern paper mill.
