(Press Release) -
The re-design and updating of the entire Bobst product line which began more than two years ago has now reached high-end corrugated specialty folder-gluers. Conceived with productivity in mind, while taking into account the need to cope with short runs, the new MASTERFOLDs offer both process versatility and product quality. This new generation improves upon and supercedes Bobst's highly popular Pacific line of folder-gluers. Late last month Bobst presented these new developments to a global audience of visitors at its Mex, Switzerland factory.
Faithful to its long term commitment to customers, and its objective to continually develop powerful solutions to meet the needs of the industry, Bobst MASTERFOLD 170, 230, 300 and 350 work with N, F, E, B, and C-flute corrugated as well as double-wall board. In North American terms the widths of the new MASTERFOLD machines are 66", 90", 118", and 138". The construction of the MASTERFOLD is particularly rigid, making it possible to produce all types of boxes, while a new automatic packer will soon be available to further facilitate their productivity.
Some of MASTERFOLD's Revolutionary innovations:
The new, and patented, Accuwave, is a system of folding which makes it possible to produce 4 and 6 corner boxes, and crashlock bottom cartons, without the need for mechanical hooks. This innovation delivers higher production speeds with no marking of boxes. Accuwave, along with further improved reliability, also benefits the box plant with lower noise levels, and simplicity of adjustment.
Bobst has optimized the operation of the MASTERFOLD and has included in the basic machine features such as:
Strategically placed cameras inside the machine, to allow constant monitoring of production via a video monitor at the feeder. A jam prevention system, using photocells. Motorized folding belts, with operator side controls, to allow adjustment without the need to stop the machine. High quality integrated gluing systems, from any of BOBST's gluing system partners. Integrated partial prebreaking, which allows for the prebreaking, in modules Combi I & II, of the first and third fold of small boxes up to 47" (1,200 mm). Operators of the MASTERFOLD now benefit from a new C.U.B.E 3 interface which has a large screen on which the principal commands are grouped, aiding both ease of use and safety. The video monitoring system covers the length of the machine using 4 cameras and 1 screen while, for the safety of the operator, guarding protects the compression zone, and safety doors block access when the machine is in production. The basic machine also benefits from the Bobst remote diagnosis system, Highway View.
The Polyjoiner, the peripheral which allows for the inline combination of multiple sheets of board, has also undergone several changes. Its new version includes many operational improvements based on user suggestions. These include its interface, safety features and mechanical systems.
