Metso to sell QCS and non-nuclear control systems to Sofidel in UK and Romania; start-ups to begin May 2011

HELSINKI, March 28, 2011 (Press Release) - Sofidel, the second largest tissue producer in Europe recently ordered paper machine quality control systems from Metso, for mills in the United Kingdom and Romania. Both deliveries will include Metso QCS with a non-nuclear IQFiber measuring both weight and moisture. Start-ups are scheduled for May 2011.

The two orders follow the successful start-up in 2010 of a Metso QCS to Sofidel's Papyros mill in Katerini near Thessaloniki, Greece. This replaced an existing system to take advantage of Metso's unique tissue quality measurement capabilities. The system was supplied with non-nuclear IQFiber sensor and a Metso scanner. Since the QCS start-up, the mill has reported good results and a useful increase in machine speed.
