DuPont settles discharge allegations at Delaware titanium dioxide plant for $500,000 [From the web]

WILMINGTON, DE, Oct. 27, 2011 (Local News) - The DuPont Co. has agreed to pay $500,000 to settle allegations that it wrongfully discharged pollutants into the Delaware River in a series of incidents from 2005 to 2010, according to company regulatory filings.

The News Journal reported in August that DuPont was in settlement talks with state and federal regulators concerning allegations of noncompliance with the Clean Water Act at its Edge Moor Plant near Wilmington, mostly related to self-reported discharges. The talks involved the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. DNREC initiated the settlement talks with DuPont, with the EPA joining discussions in 2009.
