Ciba launches new liquid dyes for packaging

SINGAPORE, June 11, 2008 (Press Release) - Ciba has extended its offer of brown shades for packaging with a new, costeffective range of anionic direct liquid dyes and a new orange component for trichromatic dyeing.

Ciba(r) PERGASOL(r) Brown O dyes have high affinity for paper fibers as well as excellent color constancy under different light sources, and minimize backwater coloration. Ciba(r) PERGASOL(r) Orange FT is a bright orange brown that provides the basis for highly cost-effective trichromatic dyeings.

"Customers now have the choice between ready-made brown dyes, which are simple to apply, and trichromatic components, which allow fulfillment of very tight shade specifications," says Mikael Jighede, Head of Business Development & Applications, Coloration and Whiteners, in Ciba's Business Line Paper.

PERGASOL(r) Brown O dyes and PERGASOL(r) Orange FT are designed for coloration of fresh and recycled paper fibers. Suitable applications include liners, sack paper and corrugated board.

Besides their other benefits, PERGASOL(r) Brown O and PERGASOL(r) Orange FT anionic direct dyes have environmental advantages over basic dyes, which contain high amounts of acid.

Ciba works continuously on developing products and processes that improve the properties of packaging, including wet strength, retention and coloration.
