Burrows Paper receives FSC certification for Mississippi and NY paper mills

LITTLE FALLS, NY , Jan. 26, 2011 (Press Release) - Burrows Paper Corporation is pleased to announce its recent Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody certification.

This certification recognizes that Burrows, a world leader in light weight paper and packaging, procures all wood pulp for papermaking from responsible, legal and traceable sources.

Burrows also recently received Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), further demonstrating Burrows' dedication to sustainable forestry.

Burrows received the certifications for its paper mills in Mississippi and New York following a rigorous, several-months-long process, including a three-day audit by Bureau Veritas, an independent and accredited certifier. The standards for certification address issues such as old growth forests, endangered species, water quality, chemical use, forest conversion, rights of indigenous peoples, genetic modification, and clear cutting.
