Ence included among companies with best socially responsible business practices says Spain's FTSE4Good Ibex

MADRID, March 18, 2011 (Press Release) - FTSE4Good Ibex, the index that evaluates Spanish companies with best socially responsible business practices, jointly developed by FTSE Group and Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME, Spanish Stock Market), has decided to confirm Ence, a sustainable forest management company, among the 33 reference companies in sustainability.

FTSE4Good Ibex is the world's reference index to rank the leading companies in Responsible Investment (RI). In fact, in addition to the Spanish Stock Index, the stock markets of Johannesburg, London, Malaysia, NASDAQ, Singapore, Taiwan and Dow Jones Indexes also rely on this index.

FTSE4Good's social and environmental responsibility criteria are based on environmental risk management, fight against climate change, human and labor rights, labor standards in supply chain and good governance practices. This index of socially responsible companies has been developed by FTSE Group and BME after a consultation process with stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, consultants, members of academies, the investment community and the business sector, BME informs.

Responsible Investment Index comprises 33 companies. Created in 2008, it initially included 27. The index is reviewed every six months, with the aim of "making a continuous evaluation so that companies do not relax their social responsibility policies."

FTSE4Good points out that Responsible Investment (RI) is growing worldwide and that is gathering the interest of an increasingly important community of investors, 'which recognizes the necessity of managing social and environmental risks. Besides, companies are increasing the recognition of the added value that a good corporate responsibility can add to the financial results." In fact, one of FTSE4Good's main targets is 'enable responsible investors to identify and invest in companies that meet Corporate Responsibility standards.
