Bellmer refurbishes decor paper PM 2 at Cartiere di Guarcino in Italy

ÖSCHELBRONN, Germany, July 5, 2011 (Press Release) - Decor paper manufacturers Cartiere di Guarcino S.p.A. in Guarcino form part of the Italian Valentini Group. Among a wide range of products they offer e.g. do-it-yourself furniture.

In the Guarcino plant, there exist two paper machines featuring a width of 2.90 metres; however, PM 2 had been shut down in 2001. Due to the strong demand for decor papers in South Europe, the management of CDG decided in the year 2010 to resurrect their PM 2. Aim was here an enduring increase of the production capacity as well as an extension of the product range in order to be able to meet their customers' wishes even better.

Extensive overhaul and modernisation works are required when a paper machine has to be recommissioned after so many years. At the end of 2010, Bellmer as a specialist in this field, was awarded the order to refurbish PM 2. The Bellmer scope of supply comprised among other details the new parts for the press and dryer sections, modification of web transfer from dryer section to Yankee cylinder, rebuild of calender as well as the elements for the rope system. Bellmer also assumed the tasks of engineering, project management and supervision of erection.

With the startup of PM 2 the company management want to implement a production split of decor papers of high quality and grades that can be manufactured in large quantities. Yearly capacity of both machines will be 65,000 tons.
