Domtar pollution system working as designed to lower particulate emissions at Kamloops, BC, pulp mill [From the web]

KAMLOOPS, BC, Oct. 4, 2011 (Local News) - Both the corporation and the regulator say Domtar's new pollution system is working as designed and is thus far lowering particulate in the airshed.

Domtar's Kamloops pulp mill began commissioning the new system in mid-September, starting with a single power boiler and one stack. Eventually the second power boiler will come on line, with particulate emitting from the second stack.

An Ontario spokeswoman for Domtar, Bonny Skene, said in an email message the equipment "appears to be working well, with indications being that that emissions will be well within our new, lower permit limit for fine particulate...."
