Drewsen Spezialpapiere installs new film press technology on its PM5 in Germany

LACHENDORF, Germany, Jan. 18, 2011 (Press Release) - At the end of 2010 DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE GmbH & Co. KG installed a film press on Paper Machine No. 5, the largest of the 3 machines in the Lachendorf mill. The installation of the new film press was realised in cooperation with PAMA Paper Machinery GmbH. The rebuild of the paper machine also included the extension of the pre-dryer section and the installation of infrared dryers. Production on PM5 was restarted at the beginning of 2011 and after a short period of time has already achieved the expected economies and quality objectives. The advantages of the film press technology result in improved production efficiencies and manufacturing costs, an increase in the production capacity as well as improvements in runability and paper characteristics. Moreover, the new technology allows for the application of pigments onto the paper surface giving DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE the possibility to expand its product portfolio and access new markets and applications.
