PMT rebuild improves efficiency at Aylesford Newsprint mill in UK

PINEROLO, Italy, Feb. 18, 2010 (Press Release) - On December 2009 PMT have successfully started up the dryer section rebuild of newsprint machine PM13 at the Aylesford Mill site in UK.

The dryer section has been re-designed by PMT together with the Aylesford team with the target to eliminate problems caused by stickies coming from the recycled fibres (DIP). The careful preparation and planning paid off and the machine started making paper over one day ahead of the planned shut down, making the shut a success.

After two months of operation, the preliminary results of the rebuild are very promising showing a significant improvement in the machine efficiency. Robin Linney, PM13 Operations Manager, sums it up: "The machine now has a front line defence against stickies which has led to a step change in performance."
