Södra takes two weeks maintenance downtime at its Värö mill in Sweden

VAXJO, Sweden, Dec. 7, 2009 (Press Release) - Södra Cell Värö has recently carried out a two-week production shutdown for maintenance and new equipment investments, including an investment in the recovery boiler to increase energy efficiency.

Start up of the mill went well but production problems arose in the recovery boiler two days later. The problems were severe and startup had to be interrupted on 1 December. The cause of the problems has now been identified and the severity of the situation means production has to be stopped for a further three weeks. It is planned to restart the mill on 25 December.
