Voith supplies breast roll shaking units to Chinese specialty paper makers

HEIDENHEIM, Germany, Dec. 1, 2009 (Press Release) - The DuoshakeTM breast roll shaking unit, supplied by Voith Paper for Zhejiang Kingdecor Paper, was successfully launched and put into use near the end of October 2009. In early November, another unit purchased by Zhejiang Xianhe Paper came into production three days after its installation. Moreover, Zhejiang Huajin Specialty paper has recently ordered one DuoShakeTM, which is planned to start-up Middle of 2010.

The Voith Paper DuoShakeTM is the first shaking unit to have been accepted by the specialty paper makers due to its contributions to high quality production of specialty paper grades. As a member of Voith Paper Valueplus, DuoShakeTM has the advantage of increasing paper uniformity, formation and MD/CD ratio without affecting the production process.

By direct installation to the breast roll journal, DuoShakeTM creates an axial shaking of the breast roll with high-frequency. The amplitude and frequency can be changed automatically according to wire speed and shaking data. The maximum frequency reaches the speed of 600stroke/min, and 25mm (± 12.5mm) for the maximum amplitude.

There are two pairs of unbalanced mass arranged on the hydrostatically mounted carriage of DuoShake. The mass rotation creates forces which are transmitted to the breast roll by shaking rods. Unlike conventional shaking units, this system freely oscillates in the horizontal direction and transmits only negligible friction and centering forces to the foundation. The pairs of unbalanced mass move in a counter-rotating direction so that the vertical force is counteracted. This prevents the reaction force transmission to the foundation, thus only a simple steel base is needed for fixing the DuoShake. The DuoShake features a compact design.
