Omya to lift prices for paper grade ground calcium carbonate

BLUE ASH, OH, May 30, 2008 (Press Release) - Effective July 1, 2008, Omya Inc. has announced a price increase of 8-10%, depending on grade, for all ground calcium carbonate grades sold to the North American paper industry. This increase includes products used for both filling and coating applications.

Costs for energy, dispersants, biocides, freight and mining have risen at an alarming rate. This price increase is necessary to recover a portion of these increased costs.

With its global headquarters in Oftringen, Switzerland, Omya is the world's largest supplier of high quality, ground calcium carbonate for paper filling and coating, plastics, paint, food, pharmaceutical, nutritional and industrial applications.
