Voith announces successful start-up of PM1 at Vina Kraft in Vietnam

HEIDENHEIM, Germany, June 25, 2009 (Press Release) - Voith Paper, the world's leading provider of system solutions and services for the paper industry, announces the successful start-up of the Vina Kraft PM 1, a containerboard paper machine near Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The production of the first Jumbo-Reel of corrugating medium on Vina Kraft PM1 was completed on March 16th, 2009.

The PM1 is provided by Voith IHI Paper Technology with 100% startup fabrics and QualiFlex sleeves, all delivered from Voith Paper. This new line has a production capacity of 220,000 ton/year. At a production speed of 800 m/min, the paper machine produces liner board with basis weights between 125 to 275 gsm and corrugating medium between 105 to 185 gsm.

Vina Kraft is a joint venture company between SCG Paper (formerly known as "The Siam Cement Group" in Thailand) and the Rengo in Japan. SCG is one of Thailand's leading groups in chemical substances, paper, cement, construction material and distribution, which has been listed on the Thai stock exchange since 1975, records annual revenue of $8 billion. Rengo is the largest corrugated box supplier and the leading containerboard producer in Japan.
