Bowater Mersey Paper and NewPage Port Hawkesbury granted 3-year discount on electricity by Nova Scotia review board [From the web]

HALIFAX, NS, Nov. 29, 2011 (Chronicleherald.ca) - Two Nova Scotia paper mills will get a break on electricity rates but not as much as they wanted.

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board has granted NewPage Port Hawkesbury Corp. and Bowater Mersey Paper Co. Ltd. a discount rate for three years, according to a ruling Tuesday. The companies had asked the provincial regulator for a five-year deal to help keep them in business.

"The board understands that, based on the evidence submitted by NewPage-Bowater, this design may not satisfy their business requirements," a written decision says.
