Chairman of forest products labor committee supports House approval of EPA regulatory relief act

WASHINGTON DC, Sept. 16, 2011 (Press Release) - Chairman of the Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee, delivered the following statement with respect to bipartisan House Energy and Power Subcommittee approval of the EPA Regulatory Relief Act, or H.R. 2250. The bill would provide additional time for the EPA to reconsider rules on commercial and industrial boilers and extend the time period for facilities to comply.

"On behalf of the Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee, I not only support but commend the decision by the bipartisan House committee to approve this legislation. This move demonstrates a thorough understanding of the negative consequences Boiler MACT rule changes would have on our nation's economy.

"This is a step toward creating achievable, reasonable standards that will allow American facilities to continue running and providing jobs. The passage of H.R. 2250 is critical to protecting not only jobs within the forest products industry, but also in America's manufacturing sector as a whole.
