Kruger withdraws application to test-burn used tires for fuel at Corner Brook mill in Newfoundland [From the web]

ST. JOHN'S, NF, Jan. 21, 2011 (Local News) - According to a news release issued by the provincial Department of Environment and Conservation late Friday afternoon, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper has withdrawn its application to test-burn used tires for fuel.

The company planned a test burn of tires mixed with wood bark, if it got government permission.

However, there has been opposition to the plan including protests in Corner Brook.
