United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America VP supports new Boiler MACT provisions

WASHINGTON DC, July 20, 2011 (Press Release) - Today, Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee Chairman Mike Draper delivered the following statement surrounding Senator Collins' and Senator Wyden's bipartisan bill introduced on the Senate floor today which would serve to stay the Boiler MACT Rule, give facilities adequate time to comply with revised rules, and cover all fuels previously covered under the 2000 Rule - including those from paper mills and wood products.

"I wholeheartedly support Senator Collins' and Senator Wyden's bipartisan effort to stay the Boiler MACT Rule, enabling the EPA to improve upon the existing regulations and manage the costs associated with this effort.

"Including paper mill and wood products fuels in this legislation will serve to protect both the economy of our rural communities and the environment. The key is setting reasonable standards and sticking to them."

The Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee is a non-profit trust, formed to pursue the common public policy interests of the working men and women in the forest products industry. The Committee's structure and goals operate within the confines of the Taft-Hartley Act, and do not affect individual collective bargaining agreements of labor relationships.
