Management of GLV Inc. is pleased to announce that its Water Treatment Group (Eimco Water Technologies) has landed several large contracts worth a total of over $29 M within the last few weeks, of which close to $12 M in the municipal market and close to $18 M in the industrial market.
In the municipal market, in addition to supplying various aeration and clarification systems in the United States, Eimco Water Technologies will deliver a complete wastewater treatment solution worth more than $5 M to a municipality in Northern Ireland. According to GLV's President and Chief Operating Officer Richard Verreault, this major contract attests to the breadth of GLV's technological portfolio and expertise and to its growing credibility as a provider of comprehensive high-performance municipal wastewater treatment and recycling solutions. "The demand for this type of municipal solution is particularly strong in Europe and the Middle East, where our teams are doing excellent work to enhance GLV's visibility and reputation. In North America, we are currently witnessing solid activity in the United States in regard to existing municipal infrastructure improvement projects: a field of expertise where Eimco Water Technologies' products and solutions enjoy a solid reputation. Combined with its growth strategy in the industrial water treatment segment, the Water Treatment Group's targeted development in select niches of the municipal market has enabled it to maintain its order backlog in recent months, despite the current economic climate."
In the industrial market, major contracts recently awarded to the Water Treatment Group include four orders totalling over $11 M to install screening systems and other units for companies operating in the energy sector in Africa, the United States, China and Southeast Asia. The group has also landed largescale contracts in the heavy industry and chemical sectors in Australia and Kuwait, as well as three contracts totalling $4.7 M to install or upgrade wastewater treatment systems for pulp and paper manufacturers in Poland and Mexico. "We continue to witness solid activity in water intake screening solutions for the energy sector and in wastewater treatment and recycling solutions for the food and beverage processing industry. In addition, although the pulp and paper industry is being severely affected by the economic crisis, manufacturers must maintain the quality of their water treatment infrastructures in order to comply with the strict environmental standards governing this industry. Furthermore, certain pulp and paper producing regions, such as Eastern Europe, are currently more active than others, which offers opportunities to GLV given its international presence," pointed out Mr. Verreault.
In this regard, the President and Chief Operating Officer added that, in addition to the orders recently awarded to the Water Treatment Group in the pulp and paper industry, GLV's Pulp and Paper Group itself has been awarded over $7 M in large-scale contracts in various regions worldwide, including an order totalling close to $4 M to deliver a complete pulp treatment system in Russia. The Pulp and Paper Group also retains a solid order backlog in the aftermarket - its field of excellence - where GLV benefits from an impressive global base of installed OEM equipment that must be maintained in good condition and regularly upgraded. "Considering our Pulp and Paper Group's strength in the aftermarket and our sustained efforts to adjust its cost structure to market fluctuations, we are confident that this group can successfully weather the crisis currently affecting the pulp and paper industry," concluded the President and Chief Operating Officer.
