NAHE Pulp has added Austria (Burgenland) to her list of regions suitable for the construction of a mini mill bio refinery as part of the network. This is the outcome of recent meetings with regional government officials, with the agri-business and with representatives of banks and investors.
NAHE Pulp is the Germany based company aiming to establish a straw pulp marketing and production company in Europe based on a network of 3rd generation mini-mill bio-refineries.
Burgenland in Austria is a region under consideration for a NAHE Pulp network location. Representatives of the company recently visited the region to further their plans. It was confirmed that Austria Burgenland can be a suitable region for a mini-mill in the network.
Production capacity will be in the range of 50.000 to 60.000 tons.
The mini-mill will generate about 200 direct and indirect jobs for the region. The value of the annually required biomass sourced within the region should amount to about 7 million, providing additional income for farmers. The mini-mill bio refinery under consideration will require an investment of Euro 85 million euro.
Conversations with parties representing stages in the business chain confirmed the possibilities for the formation of an adequate biomass supply chain. Straw as well as corn are under consideration.
Regional officials have offered possible sites as locations for the mini-mills meeting the requirements of action radius, water, rail and road. Applicable investment subsidies will be available and a favourable treatment has been confirmed.
National and regional banks will help finance the debt proportion of the construction cost of the bio refinery at favourable green interest rates. The required equity part for this Austrian mini-mill in the NAHE pulp network (estimated at Euro 35 million) can be raised by regional and foreign investors.
Previously, NAHE pulp had listed Germany (Region Magdeburg Vorpommern and Sachsen Anhalt), Belgium (Region Wallony) and Turkey as suitable locations for a mini-mill in her network. Austria (Burgenland) has now been added as location.
The ecological advantages associated of pulp coming from our mini-mill bio-refineries will assure its market acceptance.
