Newfoundland fiber research could direct future of pulp and paper industry [From the web]

CORNER BROOK, NF, Sept. 20, 2011 (The Western Star) - Some important forest research taking place in Newfoundland and Labrador could have an impact on the pulp and paper industry of the future.

The Newfoundland Fibre Inventory Project is a partnership initiative mainly between Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland, the Canadian Forest Service and its Canadian Wood Fibre Centre and the University of Sherbrooke. Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Ltd. is also heavily involved in the project.

Joan Luther, a research scientist with the Canadian Forest Service, and Wade Bowers, principal investigator on the project for Grenfell Campus, provided an update on the work that's been done so far during a brown bag lunch session at the university on Monday. The event was held as part of National Forest Week activities taking place in the city this week.
