Saiccor started Noss cleaning at PD5 in South Africa

NORRKOPING,Sweden, Dec. 4, 2008 (Press Release) - Within the Amakhulu project at Sappi Saiccor, Umkomaas Plant, South Africa, Saiccor has as well invested into a Noss RADICLONE AM/BM bleached hydrocycloning system coupled directly to the pulp dryer head box and a RADISCREEN-C protection screen on the thick stock supply.

The RADICLONE AM/BM system includes a 6-stages RADICLONE-AM80 heavy weight hydrocycloning system followed by a one-stage RADICLONE-BM80 thickening hydrocycloning system. One of the advantages of such a system is that the thickened accepts from the BM80 canisters are fed directly into the pulp dryer's headbox. In this way the cleaned pulp can not be contaminated again as it quite often happens in conventional systems feeding to a filter and tank, where contaminants might re-enter the pulp while diluting it down to the headbox consistency. Another advantage is the compact design and low space requirement of such a system.

In the thick stock supply a RADISCREEN-C protection screen with intermittent reject is installed to take out big impurities like nuts, bolts, stones etc. The system was started in the 2nd quarter of 2008.
