Koehler receives grant from European Union’s Marco Polo container shipments project

OBERKIRCH, Germany, Aug. 12, 2011 (Press Release) - The European Union's Marco Polo Project has given Koehler AG a grant for the reduction of CO2 in its logistic operations. The strict rerouting of container shipments from Kehl Port and their shipment via Euro Terminal Kehl saves some 31 daily 170-kilometer lorry round trips to the Port of Wörth in Rhineland Palatinate and the Koehler loading points. Kehl Port is very close at hand, and this proximity to the terminal and its high flexibility, coupled with time window management by the company argoclix, permit rapid reaction in the shipment field, allowing human resources in shipment to be used to optimum effect.

Thanks to the excellent collaboration between all those involved in the project (the Kehl Port Authority, H&S Containerline, and Euro Terminal Kehl), the project was brought to a successful conclusion, representing a significant step towards green logistics at Koehler AG and demonstrating the intensive efforts being made to bring about improvements in this area.
