North American pulp and paper rail freight rises in 2011

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 21, 2011 (RISI) - North American pulp and paper rail freight in the latest week ending Jan. 15 was up 10.2% from the year earlier to 9,707 carloads, according to the Assn of American Railroads. That pushed the two-week total for 2011 to 19,597 carloads, up 7.4% from the same period of 2010.

Lumber and wood products freight for the week ending Jan. 15 was up 5.3% and year-to-date was 7.7% higher.

Total rail freight for the week was up 5.1%.
