HEIDENHEIM, Germany, June 5, 2008 (Press Release) - Gold East Paper, the largest Chinese paper manufacture, achieved a fourth world speed record with its PM3. Since its start-up in 2005, the machine continues to set a new standard for the production of double-coated wood-free paper worldwide.
The Gold East PM3 paper machine is equipped with on-line coating using Voith's SpeedSizer AT and two DynaCoat AT units. On April 23, 2008, the machine was running over a 24-hour period at an average speed of 1,750 m/min, producing wood-free coated paper in a basis weight range of 80-90 g/m2.
"Without our employees and Voith, we would not have broken this record again," said Xingfang Wu, chairman of Gold East Paper Co., Ltd. The machine ran three successive days at the speed of 1,750 m/min with excellent paper quality and machine efficiency. "These records verify our strong capability of reaching the set targets. With the support of our long-term partner Voith, we will continue to speed up our machine," added Wu.
Voith supplied the complete processing technology for the plant, from stock preparation to the slitter winder and all in accordance with the process line package. Since its operation, Voith remains a regular supplier of the machine clothing. The combination of PrintForm HQ improved forming fabrics with PrintFlex P2 and PrintFlex O2 in the press while PrintTech Q2 & LBR in the dryer section enabled excellent operation during the world record period.
Following Voith's One Platform Concept, PM3 is designed to produce wood-free coated paper at a basis weight range of 80-128 g/m² at a wire width of 10,600 mm. The previous speed record on PM3 reached to 1,720 m/min last May and 1,701 m/min last January, respectively.
