BRUSSELS , April 16, 2014 (RISI) -
Demand for pellets in Sweden rose by 20% - equivalent to 330,000 tonnes or some 1.6 TWh - year on year in 2013, according to a statement from the Swedish Bioenergy Association (Svebio). This compares to a drop in consumption of 560,000 tonnes from 2011 to 2012.
Swedish pellet production rose by 10% or 140,000 tonnes year on year in 2013, Svebio said, referring to a market survey carried out by the publication Bioenergi. Pellet imports to Sweden rose by some 45% or 222,000 tonnes while exports decreased by some 17% or 33,000 tonnes year on year, according to figures from Statistics Sweden, Svebio said.
