Idle Ontario pulp mill angles for restart, could restore over 2 million tons wood demand



LOST RIVER, WV , Nov. 20, 2009 (RISI) - More than eight months after filing for court protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act ("CCAA") and idling its market pulp mill, Terrace Bay Pulp said the government of Ontario is preparing a C$25 million loan that will allow the mill to restart. At capacity, the mill consumed about 2.2 million green tons/year of pulpwood (about 75% conifer species).
