Forest industry considers bioenergy options



SAN FRANCISCO ,  (RISI) - At the Tappi International Bioenergy and Bioproducts Conference held last week in Portland, OR, speakers laid out a "phased in" approach to establishing bioenergy production at pulp and paper mills, lowering manufacturing costs, also providing power to local utility grids - which many already do - and lastly producing fuels such as ethanol, synthetic gas, or Dimethyl ether, or biochemicals, depending on the scale of the project, cost and company strategy.
