PORTLAND, OR , Jan. 9, 2014 (RISI) -
Arauco has started production at its new Nueva Aldea 350,000 m3/yr plywood plant. The unit is the result of a $190 million renovation project and has been entirely rebuilt after it was destroyed by the fire that affected the area in January 2012.
"We are very proud to re-inaugurate this plant and fulfill the commitment we made a few days after the fire. This unit represents an important source of employment and with its startup we expect to continue leading the way in international markets, always taking the challenge to grow well," Arauco's COO, Cristián Infante, stated.
