Inadmissible evidence prompts B.C.’s criminal justice branch to not file charges against Babine Forest Products

PORTLAND, OR , Jan. 15, 2014 (RISI) -

No charges will be filed against Babine Forest Products in the explosion and subsequent fire that killed two workers and destroyed the Babine Forest Products sawmill in Burns Lake, B.C., two years ago, according to The Canadian Press.

The Crown announced there will be no charges, citing a questionable investigation by the province's worker safety agency, WorkSafeBC, which left evidence in the fire inadmissible in court, according to the province's criminal justice branch.
