PORTLAND, OR , Nov. 20, 2012 (RISI) -
U.S. housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 894,000, up 3.6% from the revised September estimate of 863,000 and 41.9% above the October 2011 rate of 630,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Single-family housing starts in October were at a rate of 594,000, down slightly from the revised September figure of 595,000. The October rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 285,000, up from 259,000 in September.
