PORTLAND, OR , Sept. 2, 2010 (RISI) - On August 31, Weyerhaeuser closed its Albany Engineered Wood Products facility, affecting 70 workers. The plant produced engineered wood headers, beams and scaffolding planks. The closure is indefinite, but company sources indicate that it "is expected to be long term." Workers will continue to receive their regular pay and benefits until October 30, following which they will be eligible for severance and other benefits associated with involuntary termination.
