U.S. homeowner vacancy rate stable in 2Q



PORTLAND, OR ,  (RISI) - U.S. homeowner vacancy rates in the second quarter of this year were not statistically different from the 1Q rate or the 2Q rate last year, according to the Census Bureau. The vacancy rate was 2.8% for homeowners and 10.0% for rental housing in 2Q. The rental vacancy rate was higher than 2Q of last year, when it was 9.5%. The homeownership rate of 68.1% for 2Q was not statistically different from the second quarter 2007 rate of 68.2% or the 1Q, 2008 rate of 67.8%.
