COVERAGE NOTE: Changes to Brazil Recovered Paper Assessments – Final Decision
SAO PAULO, May 1, 2018 — Following extensive consultation with stakeholders, RISI would like to confirm that the following changes will be made to recovered paper coverage in PPI Latin America.
To make it easier for users to compare prices in different cities and states in Brazil, RISI will move recovered paper prices from CIF to FOB. This means they will change from being delivered prices to prices for recovered paper ready for sale at the seller’s dock.
New FOB assessments will be launched on July 24, 2018. We will continue to run CIF assessments for four months thereafter as a fixed differential to the FOB assessments. They will then be discontinued.
Due to significant reduction in the volume of old newsprint traded in the Brazilian market, RISI will discontinue the assessment of this grade in PPI Latin America from July 24, 2018.
Old corrugated containers
Due to the low volume of recovered corrugated board #3 traded in Brazil, RISI will discontinue the assessment of this grade in PPI Latin America, from July 24, 2018.
