COVERAGE NOTE: Fastmarkets RISI proposes changes to nonwovens market coverage
CLOVERDALE, CA, March 3, 2020 (Fastmarkets RISI) – Fastmarkets RISI is proposing to rationalize its coverage of nonwovens markets, including to discontinue assessments for Roll Goods and Cotton indices, potentially with effect from July 2020.
Among other outlets, these prices are published monthly in the Nonwovens Markets newsletter and the Nonwovens Price & Cost Monitor report.
The move is in-line with a company-wide policy to improve price discovery processes and to focus attention on the most liquid, important markets. Fastmarkets RISI is unifying its price assessment methodologies and policies to comply with Fastmarkets’ internal guidelines and the IOSCO principles for price reporting agencies. In this environment, it is not feasible to continue assessing certain markets.
The following assessments would potentially be discontinued:
Price ID Price Name
1094 Roll Goods, Spunbond polypropylene, thermalbond (0.4osy/14gsm), North America
1095 Roll Goods, Spunlace viscose/polyester (1.6 osy/55 gsm), North America

Fastmarkets RISI will retain assessments for polymers, pulp and staple fibers.
At the same time, Fastmarkets RISI is inviting feedback from the industry on the pricing methodologies for nonwovens markets. This consultation seeks to ensure that our methodologies continue to reflect the physical market under indexation, in compliance with the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) principles for Price Reporting Agencies (PRAs). This includes all elements of our pricing process, our price specifications and publication frequency.
To provide feedback on this consultation, please email pricing.risi@fastmarkets.com by April 3rd, 2020.
