BPA found in pizza boxes in Italy; Assocarta calls for a Europe-wide legislation

BRUSSELS, March 28, 2019 (PPI Europe) -Two brands of pizza boxes used in Italy for the delivery of pizza allow the migration of Bisphenol A (BPA) from the paper to the food, according to research byIl Salvagente, a consumer protection publication that conducts laboratory tests to help fight consumer fraud.

According toIl Salvagente,the laboratory tests showed that pizza boxes distributed by Garcia de Pou and IZpack produced a BPA migration of 179 and 311 parts per billion (ppb), respectively, while the analysis of the boxes produced by Liner Italia showed no presence of BPA.
