Brazilian packaging industry production increases 2% in 2017

SAO PAULO, March 13, 2018 (PPI Latin America) -A report released by ABRE – the Brazilian Packaging Assn. – shows that the country's packaging industry had a 2% increase in its total production in 2017, compared to 2016. According to ABRE, the result was driven by better performance of the main packaging consuming industries – food, beverage, tobacco, clothes, shoes, pharmaceutical, hygiene and cleaning products, electronics, and appliances.

Paper and corrugated board packaging accounted for 40.5% of the country's packaging production in 2017, followed by plastic with 35%, metal with 15.1%, glass with 8% and wood with 1.4%. Paper and corrugated ...
