Brazilian paper sector starts 2018 with rising numbers; good outlook

SAO PAULO, March 6, 2018 (PPI Latin America) -The latest data released by the Brazilian Tree Industry Assn (Ibá) show that the country's paper industry produced 859,000 tonnes in the first month of the year, or 1.9% more than in January 2017.

Domestic sales climbed 4.9% to 429,000 tonnes, while exports rose 1.7% to 175,000 tonnes year-over-year.

Brazilian paper imports moved up from 53,000 tonnes in January 2017 to 72,000 tonnes in January 2018.

Apparent consumption was 4.4% higher, at 756,000 tonnes.
