Brazil’s largest state approves new ban on plastic drinking straws

SAO PAULO, July 16, 2019 (PPI Latin America) -The state of São Paulo, Brazil’s biggest economy, has banned the use of plastic straws. The state’s governor recently approved a law project proposed by local councilors. The São Paulo rule imposes a fine of Real 5,300 ($1,400) to those who distribute or sell plastic straws.
