Canfor Pulp withdraws force majeure declaration

OAKLAND, CA, Dec. 6, 2018 (RISI) -Canfor Pulp, which declared force majeure to customers worldwide in mid-October, withdrew the notice this week as it looks to ramp up a market northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp mill, industry contacts told RISI.

Force majeure is a declaration made that cites circumstances beyond a party’s control that prevents it from fulfilling its obligations under a contract. Canfor Pulp was hit with two unexpected circumstances in September and October.
