Chilean P&P exports drop 3% in 2017; climb in January

SAO PAULO, March 27, 2018 (PPI Latin America) -The latest statistics released by Chile's Forest Institute (Infor) show that the country's pulp and paper exports dropped by 3.1% in 2017 to 5 million tonnes.

The negative figure was mainly impacted by lower overseas pulp sales, which decreased 3.4% to 4.5 million tonnes in 2017 compared to a year ago. Last year, Chilean pulp output and exports were impacted by at least two strikes, one that affected its ports and a second that halted wood transportation at the region of Constitución.
