China BEK pulp stalemate looks set the end after talks wrap up next week
SINGAPORE, March 15, 2019 (PPI Asia) -Talks between Suzano and its Chinese clients with a focus on bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp (BEK) pricing have been intensifying.
This seems to be paving the way to a possible end to a long stalemate when the senior executives of both sides meet next week during Shanghai Pulp Week.
How the negotiations pan out has become the pivot point for how pulp prices are expected to develop going forward.
Big Chinese buyers have been pressing for cuts since October. They have stepped up pressure on suppliers, led by Suzano, who refused to cave in.
