Containerboard: Verso testing, readying new board output at Duluth, for an early 2020 startup
OAKLAND, CA, Aug. 9, 2019 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -Verso will step a second time in two years into the US containerboard business in early 2020 while its white paper business continues to erode.
Company interim CEO Les Lederer pinpointed a planned 48,000 tons/yr of containerboard and kraft paper capacity at its Duluth, MN, printing and writing paper mill and he also noted a capital spending plan that includes improving the company's machine No. 3 at its Androscoggin mill in Jay, ME, where Verso first moved into containerboard and kraft linerboard last year in the third quarter.
